Rising Star Ministers’ Conference
Leader / President: Elder Alvin Porterfield
The Rising Star Ministers’ Conference is a unified body of clergy committed to faithful service, spiritual growth, and excellence in ministry. This conference consists of all ministers of Rising Star Baptist Church, including the Senior Pastor, Executive Pastor, Associate Ministers, and licensed and ordained ministers, as well as ministers in training.
The Ministers’ Conference serves as a space for fellowship, accountability, leadership development, and collaborative discussion surrounding matters related to church ministry and pastoral service.
Purpose & Focus
The purpose of the Rising Star Ministers’ Conference is to equip, strengthen, and support ministers as they serve the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through intentional dialogue, prayer, and instruction, the conference helps ministers grow in spiritual maturity, leadership effectiveness, and pastoral responsibility.
During conference meetings, ministers engage in:

Discussion of issues related to church ministry and leadership

Training designed to strengthen preaching, teaching, and pastoral care

Guidance on best practices for serving the congregation and community

Ongoing development in ethics, accountability, and servant leadership
Ministerial Training & Development
In addition to monthly conference gatherings, the Rising Star Ministers’ Conference provides separate and specialized training for up-and-coming ministers. This training pathway is designed to prepare ministers for licensing and ordination, ensuring they are spiritually grounded, theologically sound, and prepared for effective ministry service.
Meeting Schedule
The Rising Star Ministers’ Conference meets on the first Monday of every month. These meetings provide a consistent opportunity for ministers to connect, learn, and grow together in unity and purpose.

The Rising Star Ministers’ Conference reflects a shared commitment to Christ-centered ministry, spiritual integrity, and servant leadership. Together, ministers are equipped not only to preach the gospel, but to live it out faithfully in service to God’s people.
