RISING STAR BAPTIST CHURCH

A church where everyone is welcome

Here’s What You Can Expect at Rising Star

Everyone needs three things in life — a look, a word, and a touch.

Welcome to Rising Star Baptist Church

A Look

Smiling faces, joyful youth, excited worshippers, and inspiring messages — that’s what you’ll see and experience when you come to Rising Star Baptist Church. Regardless of your background, we want you to feel right at home.

A Word

There’s nothing like saying “hello” to the person sitting next to you in service. Life keeps us busy, and sometimes we forget to connect with the people we worship beside each week. That’s why at Rising Star, you’ll always hear a warm greeting and feel genuine fellowship when you arrive.

A Touch

There’s nothing like a loving hug or a gentle touch after a long week. Sometimes all it takes is that simple act of kindness to help someone get back on track. At Rising Star, you’ll experience the love of Jesus Christ through caring people who look forward to your visit. Worship is essential to life — and here, you’ll find our worship experience both powerful and relevant.

What to Expect When You Arrive

There are three driveway entrances — from the North, East, and West. Our parking lot attendants will help you find a space that meets your needs. We also have special parking reserved for first-time visitors right up front.

As you enter the foyer, friendly greeters will assist you with directions to the nursery, sanctuary, and restrooms.

Youth Church is held every 1st, 4th, and 5th Sunday for ages 5–11 at the Holmes Tuttle Boys and Girls Club, located across the street from the main building. Parents and guardians are encouraged to drop children off prior to arriving for the main worship service. For safety and to ensure a smooth experience, children are not admitted to Youth Church after 10:30 a.m.

Teen Church for middle and high school students also meets at the Holmes Tuttle Boys and Girls Club on the same Sundays.

Our Nursery and Toddler Rooms are open during the 10:00 a.m. worship service and Wednesday evening Bible Study for infants and children up to 5 years old. Our nursery and toddler workers are trained and dedicated to providing loving, attentive care for your little ones.

What Is the Service Like?

Although Rising Star is a predominantly African-American congregation, we welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life.

There is no formal dress code — whether you prefer traditional attire or relaxed clothing, jeans are always welcome. Come as you are!

When you arrive, an usher will assist you in finding a seat. Our worship service blends contemporary praise with traditional elements and lasts about 90 minutes — though time seems to fly once you enter God’s presence through praise and worship.

Our Interim Senior Pastor, Calvin Coker, delivers powerful, biblically grounded messages that inspire faith and action. His wife, First Lady Cynthia Coker, serves faithfully alongside him in ministry.

Our incredible Media Ministry enhances the worship experience with on-screen lyrics, announcements, and sermon presentations.

After the Service

If you need prayer or wish to speak with someone about your spiritual journey, our ministers and prayer warriors are available at the altar during the invitation. You can also choose to join Rising Star at this time.

After service, guests are welcome to meet Pastor Calvin and First Lady Cynthia Coker and connect with members of our church family.
