Becoming a Member at Rising Star

At Rising Star Baptist Church, we believe everyone has a place in God’s family. Whether you are beginning your faith journey, returning to Christ, or seeking a new church home, we welcome you with open arms. Membership is not just joining a church — it is joining a community of believers, growing in Christ together.

Ways to Join the Rising Star Family

Candidate for Baptism

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and desire to make a public confession of faith, baptism is your next step. This symbolizes your new life in Christ and your commitment to follow Him.

Christian Experience

If you have already accepted Christ but are seeking a new church home, you may unite with Rising Star based on your Christian experience. We welcome you to grow, worship, and serve with us.

Re-Dedication

If you feel led to recommit your life to the Lord, you may join by rededicating your faith. This step reflects your desire for renewed spiritual commitment and connection. Baptism can also be discussed if desired.

WatchCare

If you are temporarily living in Tucson (military, student, seasonal visitor, etc.) and need a church home away from home, you may join under WatchCare. This allows you to stay connected, covered, and supported spiritually while you are here.

New Members Orientation

Once you join Rising Star, we invite you to attend our New Members Orientation, a foundational introduction to our church’s beliefs, ministries, and mission.

This class helps you:

  • Understand the foundations of Christian faith

  • Learn who we are as a church

  • Explore opportunities for spiritual growth

  • Discover your gifts and how to serve

  • Connect with ministry leaders and fellow members

Orientation Format

Our New Members Orientation is held every other month following the Leadership Meeting, allowing new members to meet ministry leaders and complete the entire course in one day.

The orientation includes four key areas of spiritual development:

  1. Knowing Christ – Understanding salvation and church membership

  2. Growing in Christ – Strengthening your spiritual life

  3. Serving Christ – Identifying your God-given gifts and ministry

  4. Sharing Christ – Living out your mission and testimony

Instructor

New Members Orientation is taught by our Interim Senior Pastor, Rev. Calvin Coker.

Seating is limited, so we encourage you to sign up in advance.
