What is the purpose?

The ministry is established to create closer ties among members. Improve communications between member and church office. It aims to provide a mechanism with which the Rising Star Church family can actively show concern/caring for the individual member and assist his/her growth in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Structure
 
The basic structural outline of the program comes from the principle of shared responsibility first outlined in Exodus 18 by Jethro, the father-in-law of Moses. After observing the demands upon Moses by the horde of Israelites, Jethro gave him some wise advice (read the 18th chapter of Exodus). His counsel to Moses sets forth a method whereby the large assembly of Israelites could have their varied concerns addressed without overburdening Moses with the requirement to address each and every one. The entire assembly was divided and a leader was appointed down to the tenth.
 
Sheepfolds serve as the primary point of contact for members who are ill, disabled and disconsolate, or have encountered other difficulties. While the entire congregation will certainly respond in an appropriate manner when informed, the Sheepfold should know of problems/illness as they occur and begin ministry.
 
The Sheepfold is the unit within the general church body where graduations, promotions, births and other joyous experiences should be known and shared first.
 
The primary focus of all is the concern for the physical and spiritual well being and comfort of each member of the Sheepfold. Each Sheepfold is named after a significant figure from the Holy Bible. The outstanding character traits of the person identified are raised as a model for Sheepfold members to emulate.
